I’m on McCloud nine
I know, the title of this post is sooo lame, but I don’t care. I got my copy of Making Comics signed by Scott McCloud!
Winter and I took a road trip to St. Louis yesterday to Star Clipper Comics so we could see Scott McCloud on his 50 state tour promoting his new book. His talk was informal and fun and I had a good time talking to other comic fans who were there.
Star Clipper is probably the most beautiful comic shop I’ve ever seen. It is well lit, clean and open. There are plasma screens, Macs and a gallery. Everything is organized and easy to find with an inventory that’s huge. You have your choice of indie comics, graphic novels, monthlies, mini-comics, art books, manga, toys and clothing. I had to restrain myself from spending all my money.
Scott’s almost done with his tour, but if he happens to swing by your neck of the woods, be sure to check him out. He and his whole family are great people and I hope to see them again.
Update: Winter pointed me to the McCloud Tour Blog and the post Ivy wrote about their trip to St. Louis. I think I’m one of the people she alluded to talking too much to. That’s OK, I was enjoying myself hearing about their travels. I’m glad I mentioned the Science Center Marvel Super Hero exhibit to her. It sounds like they had a good time there. It was a cool exhibit.
